What Human Design Is

Human Design is not a belief system, a personality framework, or a spiritual practice. It is a REVELATION — a precise mechanical system received by Ra Uru Hu on January 3, 1987 in Ibiza, Spain during an eight-day and eight-night encounter with what he described as a "Voice."

What was revealed is an extraordinary synthesis: the ancient wisdom of the I Ching (the Book of Changes), Western astrology, the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, the Hindu-Brahmin chakra system, and modern science — quantum mechanics, genetics, and neutrino physics — unified into a single framework for understanding the mechanics of what it means to be human.

The result is the most precise map of human mechanics ever produced. Your design kit — calculated from your exact birth date, time, and place — is not an interpretation. It is a reading of how your unique energy system is designed to function.

Ra Uru Hu — The Source of the Revelation

On January 3, 1987, in Ibiza, Spain, Ra Uru Hu (born Alan Robert Krakower, January 9, 1948 – March 12, 2011) experienced a profound and involuntary encounter. For eight days and eight nights, he received a complete transmission from what he described as a "Voice" — a Voice that gave him the entire structure of the Human Design System, its mechanics, its cosmology, and its application.

This was not channeled. This was a REVELATION. Ra made this distinction clearly and consistently throughout his life. Channeling implies a filtered, subjective transmission. A revelation arrives whole, intact, and undeniable — and Ra's encounter left him with a system so precise, so internally consistent, and so verifiable through experimentation that it cannot be explained as imagination or interpretation.

Ra spent the remainder of his life refining, teaching, and transmitting this knowledge with absolute precision. In February 1992, he introduced Human Design to the public for the first time. He founded the Jovian Archive — the original and authentic source of Human Design — and trained a small number of direct students in the complete system before his passing on March 12, 2011.

The system he revealed has never been equaled, replicated, or improved upon. It stands alone.

The Science Behind Human Design

Human Design synthesizes two streams of knowledge: ancient wisdom systems and modern science. What makes this synthesis remarkable is not that these bodies of knowledge exist — it is that Ra Uru Hu received a framework in which they map precisely onto each other.

These are not metaphors. They are structural correspondences. The I Ching's 64 hexagrams and the 64 human genetic codons are not a coincidence — they are the same 64-bit binary system expressing itself at different scales. Ra's revelation brought these correspondences into a single, unified mechanical map.

The BodyGraph is the visual representation of the Human Design System — nine energy centers connected by channels, activated by specific gates. It is calculated from your birth data and is as unique to you as your fingerprint.

The 4 Types

Human Design identifies four fundamental energy types — not five. Manifesting Generator is a sub-type of Generator, not a separate type. This distinction matters. The four types are:

Inner Authority — The 7 Types

Authority is your body's specific decision-making intelligence. It operates below the level of the rational mind. There are seven distinct authority types — each precise, each non-negotiable:

• Emotional / Solar Plexus Authority — The most common authority. No truth in the now. Clarity only emerges over a wave of emotional time. Never decide in the moment — wait for the wave to settle.
• Sacral Authority — A Sacral response, not a thought. The Sacral speaks through sounds: uh-huh (yes) or unh-unh (no). Available only to Generators and Manifesting Generators without a defined Solar Plexus.
• Splenic Authority — The oldest intelligence in the body. In-the-moment, survival-based knowing. Speaks once, quietly. Never repeats itself.
• Ego / Heart Authority — A will-based authority. "I want this" or "I don't want this." Available to certain Manifestors and Projectors with an open Sacral and Solar Plexus.
• Self-Projected Authority — For certain Projectors only. Authority is found by talking things through — listening to the sound of one's own voice, not the words, but the resonance of the G Center speaking.
• Mental / No Inner Authority — For certain Projectors. There is no reliable inner authority. Decisions are made in dialogue with the environment — by talking with trusted others and observing what resonates.
• Lunar / Reflector Authority — Exclusive to Reflectors. Decisions require a full 28-day lunar cycle to process, waiting until the moon returns to its original position before committing to major choices.

Strategy & Authority as Core Operating Principles

Strategy and Authority are the two foundational operating principles of Human Design. Everything else in the design kit — Profile, Definition, Centers, Gates, Channels — exists in relationship to these two elements.

Strategy is how your type is designed to move through life and engage with opportunities. Authority is the specific intelligence in your body that generates the correct decision signal. Together, they comprise the experiment: a minimum seven-year process of observing the results of correct action versus conditioned response.

The Human Design experiment requires no belief. It asks only for observation. Live according to your Strategy and Authority. Notice the results. That is the entirety of the practice.

Why "Design Kit" — Not "Chart"

The word "chart" carries a specific set of assumptions: that what you are looking at is primarily interpretive, symbolic, or read like a horoscope. The Human Design BodyGraph is not a chart in that sense.

A design kit is a toolkit — a precise, functional instrument. Your design kit contains everything you need to understand your mechanics: your Type, your Strategy, your Authority, your Profile, your defined and undefined Centers, your Channels and Gates. Each element is specific to you. None of it is generic. None of it is a suggestion.

The term "design kit" reflects what this system actually is: a mechanical specification of how you are built. Not a reading of your personality. Not a prediction of your future. A map of your operating system — accurate from birth, unchanging, and experimentally verifiable.

How It Differs from Personality Tests

Personality tests — Myers-Briggs, DISC, Enneagram, Big Five — measure behavior and preference. They reveal patterns in how you tend to act, feel, and think. They are psychological profiles built on self-reporting.

Human Design is not a test. You do not answer questions. There is no self-reporting. Your design kit is calculated — like an astronomical map — from fixed data about the moment of your birth. It is a mechanics map, not a behavioral profile.

The precision of your birth data matters enormously. Even a two-hour difference in birth time can change your Type, Authority, Profile, or Centers. This is why approximate birth times and simplified chart tools that ignore exact time produce inaccurate results.

The 9 Centers

The Human Design BodyGraph contains nine energy centers — evolved from the Hindu-Brahmin chakra system, with refinements that reflect the mechanics of the neutrino field and the development of human consciousness. Each center governs a distinct domain of experience. Whether a center is defined (fixed, consistent, reliable) or undefined (open, variable, conditioned by others) fundamentally shapes how you function in that domain.

Why Accuracy Matters — The Dilution Epidemic

Human Design has undergone a dilution epidemic. As the system grew in popularity, simplified versions proliferated — stripped of precision, merged with other modalities, repackaged for social media consumption. The result is a generation of people who believe they know their design but are working from an incomplete or distorted map.
