About Manifesting and Generating Channels
In Human Design, channels are not all equal in how they express. Two of the most functionally important channel types are the Manifesting channels and the Generating channels — and understanding the distinction between them is essential to understanding how life force moves from internal energetics to external expression.
Manifesting channels are those that directly connect a Motor center (Heart/Will, Solar Plexus, Sacral, or Root) to the Throat Center. When a Manifesting channel is defined, there is a direct conduit for motor energy to reach the Throat — the center of expression and manifestation in Human Design. This direct motor-to-throat connection is what defines a Manifestor Type; those who do not have it rely on other pathways to get energy expressed.
Generating channels are those that involve the Sacral Center — the most powerful motor in the system. When Sacral channels are defined, the consistent, sustainable energy of the Sacral generator is available. This is the energetic foundation of the Generator and Manifesting Generator Types: the Sacral's ability to produce and sustain life force over time, responding to what engages it.

Ra Uru Hu — Founder, Human Design System
Ra Uru Hu (born Alan Robert Krakower, April 9, 1948 — March 12, 2011) was a Canadian-born author and teacher who founded the Human Design System. In January 1987, while living on the island of Ibiza, Spain, Ra Uru Hu described an eight-day mystical encounter he called "the Voice," during which the foundational framework of Human Design was transmitted to him. He spent the following decades systematizing and teaching this body of knowledge, synthesizing elements of the I Ching, Western astrology, the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, the Hindu-Brahmin chakra system, and quantum physics into a unified framework for understanding the mechanics of human consciousness and design.
Ra Uru Hu founded the International Human Design School (IHDS) in 1992 as the institutional body for maintaining the professional standards and authentic transmission of the system. Over two decades, he recorded thousands of hours of teaching programs covering every dimension of the system — from foundational mechanics to advanced specializations. The programs in this series are part of that original recorded body of work.
