Ra Uru Hu on authentic identity — the mechanics of the G Centre, the Magnetic Monopole, and what genuine self-expression looks like when the design kit is operating correctly.
The question "Who am I?" is one of the oldest questions in philosophy and spirituality. In Human Design, Ra Uru Hu answers it with mechanical precision. The True I Am is his transmission on the nature of authentic identity — what the "I" actually is in the context of a nine-centered being, where it lives mechanically in the design kit, and what it looks, feels, and sounds like when it is genuinely expressed rather than performed through the Not-Self.
The mechanical seat of identity in Human Design is the G Centre — also called the Self, the Identity Centre, and the centre of Love and Direction. Located at the geometric heart of the BodyGraph, the G Centre is the home of the Magnetic Monopole: the unifying force that Ra Uru Hu described as the singular point through which the consciousness stream of the Personality and the unconscious Design stream are held together as a single being. The Magnetic Monopole draws to us the experiences, relationships, and environments that are correct for our design — and it operates completely below the level of conscious choice.
Ra explores the mechanics of the G Centre's defined and undefined states with particular depth in this transmission. A defined G Centre creates a fixed, consistent sense of identity and direction — the person knows who they are and where they're going, not through deliberation but through the structural consistency of their defined channels feeding into and out of the G. The undefined G Centre, by contrast, experiences identity as fluid — which is not a deficiency but a particular kind of freedom, a capacity to taste and reflect different expressions of self without being fixed to any of them.
The most practically valuable section of this course is Ra's account of what the "True I Am" expresses through the different configurations of defined G channels. The channels that feed through the G — from 10-57, 10-20, 10-34, and others — each carry a distinct flavour of identity expression. When these channels are operating through correct Strategy and Authority, what emerges through the Throat is not performance or persona but the authentic declaration of existence: I am this. I love this. I move in this direction.
For students who have been working with Human Design primarily through its structural mechanics and want to understand what the lived expression of correct operation feels like at the level of identity, this course provides the target. Dr. LaVeena B. Archers places this alongside the G Centre deep dives and the Incarnation Cross material as essential reading for the advanced practitioner.
