There is a specific and critical role in Human Design education that most people don't talk about: the person who walks a newcomer through their first real encounter with their design. Not a reading — a guided process of beginning to live it.
That is what a Living Your Design Guide does. And the IHDS Living Your Design Guide Program is the certification that qualifies you to do it properly.
Dr. LaVeena B. Archers holds the Living Your Design Guide Teacher Training certification — meaning she is qualified not just as an LYDG, but as a trainer of LYDGs. She describes the role this way: "A guide is not an analyst. You're not synthesizing the whole chart. You're holding someone's hand through the first 90 days of their experiment — helping them understand their Strategy and Authority deeply enough to start trusting it."
This is a practitioner role that requires facilitation skills, not just mechanical knowledge. The program has a practicum component — you practice delivering LYD content before you are certified. That matters. It means by the time you receive the certificate of completion, you have actually done the work.
