Core Mechanics

Inner Authority

The body's correct decision-making mechanism — the built-in authority that supersedes the mind for all significant decisions.

Inner Authority is the body's built-in, correct decision-making mechanism in Human Design. It is the specific authority each person has based on the defined Centers in their BodyGraph — and it always supersedes the mind. Ra Uru Hu consistently taught that the mind is not a reliable decision-making authority; it is an "outer authority" designed for communicating with others, not for making correct decisions about one's own life. The types of Inner Authority correspond to the defined Centers in order of priority: Emotional/Solar Plexus Authority (for those with a defined Solar Plexus — no truth in the now; wait for emotional clarity), Sacral Authority (for Generators and Manifesting Generators with no defined Solar Plexus — follow the sacral response), Splenic Authority (for those with a defined Spleen and no Solar Plexus or Sacral above it — trust the in-the-moment body wisdom), Ego/Heart Authority (for Manifestors and specific Projectors), Self-Projected Authority (for specific Projectors with a defined G Center connected to Throat), Mental/Sounding Board Authority (Projectors with no defined center below the Throat), and None for Reflectors (who use the 28-day Lunar Cycle).
