Hexagram Structure
The 6-line architecture of each hexagram — Lower Trigram (lines 1–3) and Upper Trigram (lines 4–6).
Hexagram Structure in Human Design refers to the architecture of each of the 64 hexagrams: 6 lines organized into two trigrams. The Lower Trigram (lines 1, 2, 3) is associated with personal, inward-focused themes — building a foundation, developing individual talent, and learning through experience. The Upper Trigram (lines 4, 5, 6) is associated with transpersonal, outward-facing themes — relationships, impact on others, and the fulfillment of a broader role. Each line within a hexagram has a specific role and theme: Line 1 (Investigator/Foundation), Line 2 (Hermit/Genius), Line 3 (Martyr/Adaptability), Line 4 (Opportunist/Relationship), Line 5 (Heretic/Universalization), Line 6 (Role Model/Administration). These line positions map directly to the 6 Profile Lines.
