Planetary activation always opposite the Sun — governs Mundane/Physical Grounding (Design) and Mundane Perspective (Personality). Essential anchor of the Incarnation Cross.

In Human Design, Earth is one of the 13 planetary activations used in both the Personality and Design calculations. The Earth is always in exact opposition to the Sun (180 degrees apart) — meaning the Earth always activates the Gate directly opposite the Sun gate in the BodyGraph wheel.

On the Design (Unconscious) side, Earth governs Mundane and Physical Grounding — the vehicle's relationship to physical reality, material existence, and the earth's gravitational and stabilizing forces. It is an anchor — grounding the vehicle's energy and connecting it to physical life.

On the Personality (Conscious) side, Earth governs the Mundane Perspective — how the mind relates to the ordinary, everyday, and material aspects of existence. The Personality Earth often represents what the conscious mind finds most grounding, stabilizing, or foundational in its view of reality.

The Earth activation is critical for understanding the Incarnation Cross: along with the Personality Sun, Design Sun, and Design Earth, the Personality Earth forms one of the four gates of the Incarnation Cross — the overarching life theme of the individual. The Sun-Earth axis creates the fundamental polarity of the Cross.
