The Design Crystal is one of two Crystals of Consciousness in Ra Uru Hu's cosmology (the other being the Personality Crystal). The Design Crystal programs the physical vehicle (the Bhan Tugh) approximately 88 days before birth — the moment Ra identified as the body's crystallization point. It is the body's intelligence, the driver of the vehicle.

The Design Crystal:<br>- Imprints the genetic, biological, and mechanical specifications of the BodyGraph: Type, Centers, Channels, Gates, Profile, and all other architectural features<br>- Does not have words, concepts, or a narrative sense of self — it communicates through physical intelligence: the sacral response, splenic awareness, emotional wave, instinctive knowing<br>- Operates the vehicle through the body's Strategy and Authority<br>- Is not the "self" in the conventional sense — it is the vehicle's operating intelligence

In Ra's binary consciousness framework, the Design Crystal is the driver; the Personality Crystal is the passenger. The passenger (mind) was designed to observe and communicate, not to control the vehicle. The core experiment of Human Design is the Personality Crystal learning to trust and surrender to the Design Crystal's intelligence — allowing the body to navigate life correctly according to its own mechanics.
