Centers

A Defined Center is any of the 9 Centers in the BodyGraph that has at least one complete Channel activated — meaning both gates of a Channel connected to that Center are activated, either by Personality, Design, or a combination of both streams.

When a Center is defined:
- It is consistently energized and active in the individual
- Its energy, theme, and quality are fixed and reliable — they do not depend on the presence of others to function
- It is a source of consistent expression and identity for that individual
- It conditions others who have that Center undefined (the defined Center's energy is amplified in those open to it)

Defined Centers are colored in on the BodyGraph — the specific color indicates which circuit they belong to. The more Channels defined in a Center, the more powerful and complex that Center's expression.

Understanding one's defined Centers is fundamental to Human Design self-knowledge: defined Centers represent consistent, reliable aspects of the design that can be trusted and expressed without conditioning or management. They also represent the aspects of the individual that naturally impact and condition others.
