Base

The foundational layer of the Variables system — the biochemical and cognitive processing orientation derived from the Design Mercury activation.

In Ra Uru Hu's Variables system (also called the Primary Health System / PHS), the Base is the foundational layer of the individual's unique biochemical and cognitive processing. It is derived from the Line of the Design Mercury activation.

The Base determines the deepest orientation of the body's intelligence — it is the foundation upon which all other Variable layers (Digestion, Environment, Perspective, Motivation, Sense) rest. Ra described the Base as the body's fundamental survival intelligence.

The Base also refers to the sixth and deepest layer in the 384-line system of the I'Ching (the hexagram structure of 6 Lines × 64 Gates = 384 Lines). Each Line has five sub-levels: Color, Tone, Base, and two additional octave layers. The Base at this level represents the most fundamental vibration within any given Line — the core frequency beneath all other expressions.

In PHS practice, understanding the Base provides insight into the individual's most fundamental cognitive style — whether they process left-brain (linear, logical, sequential) or right-brain (holistic, spatial, gestalt) — and how this orients their experience of digestion, environment, and decision-making.
