Authority

The individual body intelligence — the correct decision-making process determined by the defined centers in the BodyGraph.

Authority is the body's reliable intelligence for making correct decisions. In Human Design, the mind is not the decision-maker — it is an observer and communicator. The body has its own knowing, and Authority defines which aspect of the body's intelligence is most reliable for each individual.

Authority is determined by which centers are defined in the BodyGraph, following a hierarchy:

Sacral Authority — Generator and Manifesting Generator only. The sacral response (uh-huh / uhn-uhn) — a gut-level, in-the-moment vibrational sound and sensation — is the primary decision-making tool. Sacral Authority is only available in the now, in response to direct questions and life situations.

Emotional/Solar Plexus Authority — Any Type with a defined Solar Plexus. There is no truth in the now for emotional authority. Decisions must ride the emotional wave — from high to low and back — before clarity emerges. Waiting through the emotional cycle brings the correct choice forward.

Splenic Authority — Defined Spleen without defined Solar Plexus or Sacral. The Spleen speaks once, in the moment, and never repeats itself. It is the voice of survival and instinct — a subtle, quiet knowing in the body.

Ego/Will Authority — Defined Heart/Ego (with Throat connection), no Solar Plexus, Sacral, or Spleen. "If I have the will to do it, I do it." The Ego speaks through what it wants and what it doesn't want.

G/Self Authority — Defined G Center to Throat, no lower authority. The Self speaks through the voice — the words that emerge when speaking out loud reveal the direction.

Outer Authority (Environmental/No Authority) — No inner authority. The Projector or Reflector who must talk through decisions in the correct environment, using others as a sounding board — without seeking advice, just speaking.

Lunar Authority — Reflectors only. Wait a full lunar cycle (28–29 days) before making major decisions, observing the moon's transit through all 64 gates.
