Active or Dormant

A gate is Active when it carries a planetary activation; Dormant when it has no activation in the natal or transit chart.

In the Rave Chart, each of the 64 Gates is either Active or Dormant:

Active — A gate is Active when it is occupied by one or more planets in the Personality (conscious) or Design (unconscious) calculation. An active gate carries defined energy from that planetary imprint.

Dormant — A gate is Dormant when no planet activates it in the natal chart. Dormant gates in the natal chart may be temporarily activated by transiting planets, but this activation is not consistent — it is conditioning from the environment, not the individual's own nature.

When a gate is Active, the energy of that gate is consistently available to the individual. When a gate is Dormant, it remains open and available to be influenced by transiting planets and the activations of others — part of the undefined circuitry that makes each person receptive in specific ways.
